To offset this, we rely on gas power plants and other fossil fuels to regulate the electric network. But what if, one small step at a time, we could eliminate the need for these polluting power plants?
The key lies in the convergence of the power and the transportation sectors. Electric Vehicles have done much more than just change the way we drive, they have opened up the opportunity for individuals to contribute to a greater whole in a way that was previously unimaginable. Mjolnir Energy aims to aggregate our batteries and plugged-in EVs to coordinate with the needs of the utility grid. By doing this, we can lower the need for fossil fuel peaker plants, increase the amount of Renewables in our energy mix, and reduce the costs of maintaining and upgrading the utility network.
All of our charging stations are connected via an intelligent cloud platform, Yggdrasil, which uses artificial intelligence and high performance optimization modeling to manage power flows according to the needs of the grid and our users.
Mjolnir Energy will seek to participate mainly in the Norwegian, Swedish, and Finnish markets; this is due to the high number of existing and projected EVs on the road, as well as the similarities of each electricity market and the high level of interconnectivity between these three countries.
Mjolnir Energy will predominantly participate in the Frequency Containment Reserve markets, ensuring additional primary reserves for the region.
Demand Side Management is the process of changing the consumption patterns of a facility or load. By charging and discharging our local batteries, we can reduce or change the time when power is consumed by a facility, reducing demand charges and reducing operating costs for the owner.
We provide convenient charging points that intelligently manage your vehicle, ensuring minimum battery stress and efficient charge / discharge cycles.
We can't do it without you, and that's why Mjolnir Energy takes special care to provide a seamless, stress-free charging experience. Through our mobile application, users can set when they need to leave and how far they need to drive, ensuring that your EV is ready to take you where you need to go. Not sure when or where you need to leave? No problem! You can also set minimum charge requirements just in case you need to run unexpectedly.
Here at Mjolnir, we are dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact, which is why we use repurposed lithium-ion batteries from former EVs in our stationary storage. Although these batteries are no longer suitable for the powering of electric vehicles, they are more than able to handle our needs.
We don't just talk the talk. In our commitment to reducing waste and helping the environment, we have an EV battery buyback program, where we will purchase your end-of-life lithium-ion cells. In partnership with other companies, we will recycle your battery packs and use them in future Mjolnir installations. Now that's cool.
